Test prep is offered throughout the school year, typically toward the beginning of each semester.

 

WhAT ARE ENTRANCE EXAMS?

Standardized entrance exams are used for admission into four-year college, community college, and the military. 

The SAT, ACT, VPT, and ASVAB are the most common entrance exams in the United States.

  • Four-Year Colleges – SAT & ACT
  • Virginia Community Colleges – VPT
  • Military Enlistment – ASVAB

S.A.T. – Scholastic Achievement Test

  • Math and English (evidence-based reading & writing); optional essay
  • SAT combined scores: 400-1600

S.A.T. Subject Tests

  • Individual subject tests are offered in core content areas not covered on the traditional S.A.T.
  • SAT Subject Tests are typically required or recommended by highly competitive colleges or universities
  • SAT Subject Test Scores : 200-800

A.C.T. – American College Testing

  • English, reading, math, & science; optional essay
  • ACT composite scores: 1-36

V.P.T. – Virginia Placement Test

  • Math & English
  • The VPT is part of placement into coursework at the community college both after high school AND during high school including the Early College Program, Dual Enrollment, STEM Academy, and Central Virginia Governor’s School.

ASVAB – Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery 

  • Math, English, Science, Electronics, Auto & Shop, Mechanical Comprehension
  • The ASVAB is required for military enlistment AND can be used as a career assessment.
