- Perform well in high school credit classes like Earth Science, Algebra I & II, and World Languages – grades in these classes count toward getting into college!

- PSAT is a great way to practice for college entrance exams
- Free SAT/ACT Test Prep is available for all LCS students
Start visiting colleges
- LCS hosts College Night and Project Launchburg as great ways to get this process started
- Make a list of colleges you want to visit

- Military – ASVAB
- Virginia Community Colleges – VPT
- Four-Year College – SAT and/or ACT
Work on your Resume
- Get your resume prepared to use for college admissions part-time employment, or internships
- Resume templates are available on Google Docs or at Beacon of Hope Future Centers
Research Options for After High School
- Look at career options and find out what type of education is required after high school graduation
- Opportunities range from trade school, technical certifications, military, 2-year or 4-year colleges, and more!
12th Grade Checklist
Summer Workshops
- Learn how to stand out in the college admissions and financial aid process
- Beacon of Hope offers summer workshops on applications, resumes, financial aid, and essays
- Get a head start for senior year!
Complete the FAFSA
- Heritage and Glass host FAFSA Nights in mid-October to help families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid
- Completing the FAFSA is the first step in getting money to help pay for college!
Participate in College and Career Weeks
- SCHEV sponsors College Application Week in the fall and waives application fees for ALL STUDENTS
- LCS hosts Career Weeks to help students secure part-time jobs and workforce entry
Finalize Post-Secondary Plans
- Graduate from high school
- Continue to meet with your School Counselor, Future Center Director, College Adviser, and trusted adults
